Description
Max Bill's work as a painter, sculptor, graphic designer, theorist and educator has been widely publicized, especially since his death in 1994. The same thing hasn't occurred with his work as an architect, notwithstanding Max Bill's own lifelong commitment to this facet of his creative undertaking. Peter Smithson classified Bill as a 'silent architect' from the second-generation of the Modern Movement because despite the importance of his oeuvre it didn't get the recognition it deserved.
This publication brings all of Max Bill's architectural work together for the first time, along with texts by some of the foremost experts on his oeuvre (Stanislaus von Moos, Hans Frei, Karin Gimmi, Arthur Ruegg and Jakob Bill) and new documentary photos by the Swiss photographer Georg Aerni.
