Description
Paulo Mendes da Rocha (Vitria, 1928) won the Pritzker Prize in 2006. World-wide known by his Brazilian Sculpture Museum witch helped achieve acclaim, his works deals in several scales, from the single family house to the big town planning schemes. This publication shows new works and projects (some of the never published) done in collaboration with several studies, from the National Art Gallery, the Patriarca Square, the FIESP cultural centre (all of them built in Sao Paulo) to a chapel built in Recife, town planning proposals for Montevideo (Uruguay), Vigo (Spain) or Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy). In his text Territory architecture, Guilherme Wisnik offers us the keys to understand both his carrier and the Sao Paulo context and several final interviews with Paulo Mendes da Rocha and his collaborators the clues to understand the design process.
