Description
Gustav Stickley designed simple, well-made household furnishings and forward-looking interiors, which he promoted through "The Craftsman" magazine. The rugs he used are arguably the most under-studied of all the decorative arts of the Arts and Crafts movement. Among the rugs discussed here are works by British Arts and Crafts luminaries William Morris and Gavin Morton, druggets imported from India, Navajo blankets and rugs and rare Crex and Abnakee examples.
