Coop Himmelb(l)au was formed in Vienna in 1968 By architects Wolf D Prix and Helmut Swiczinsky. Since their conception they have been practicing a form of architecture which provocatively breaks away from traditional structures to expose inherent tensions.
This comprehensive book explores the theoretical and programmatic aspects of their architecture from the seminal Falkestrasse roof extension in Vienna to the outstanding UFA cinema centre in Dresden, we uncover many of the principles of decontructivism that has lead Coop Himmelblau to remain a commanding prescence in International architecture.
