Description
Eastmodern shows architecture and design of the 60s and 70s in Slovakia. The documentation compiled by the photographer Hertha Hurnaus and the architects Benjamin Konrad and Maik Novotny analyses buildings from the era of socialist late modernism in Eastern Europe. This was architecture that put its mark on a whole period of time, in which planning was obviously the product of a collective vision. Interviews with the most influential Slovakian architects of the time, including Stefan Svetko and Ivan Matusik, provide the excellent photographs with a historical and personal context.
