Description
New fire safety rules affecting all business premises in England and Wales will come into force in October 2006 under the Regulatory Reform Order, the biggest overhaul of fire safety legislation in decades.
This 'Guide to Fire Safety in Small and Medium Places of Assembly' is for public houses, clubs, restaurants and cafs, village halls, community centres and libraries accommodating up to 200 people.
It is divided into two parts:
Part 1: Explains what fire risk assessment is and how you might go about it. Fire risk assessment should be the foundation for all the fire precautions in your premises.
Part 2: Provides further guidance on fire precautions. The information is provided for you and others to dip into during your fire risk assessment or when you are reviewing your precautions.
This guide is for all employers, managers, occupiers, and owners of small (accommodating up to 60 people) and medium (accommodating up to 300 people) places of assembly including:
- Public houses
- Clubs
- Village halls and community centres
- Churches and other religious centres
- Marquees and tents.
This guide does not apply to sports grounds or common areas of shopping malls.
There are 11 Fire Safety Guides in the series.
