Description
This special limited edition monograph on the work of architect Glenn Murcutt provides a rare insight into the practice and working process of Australia's most eminent, Pritzker Prize-winning architect. In the tradition of the folio, this large format publication gives architects, academics, scholars and lovers of architecture worldwide a richly-detailed archival quality resource.
Housed within a solander box are nine 'volumes'. A fully illustrated book by eminent critic Kenneth Frampton is followed by eight individual folders, featuring eight projects nominated by Murcutt as defining milestones in his artistic and professional development. Each folder contains a photographic essay and loose-leaf sketches, plans and drawings at actual size.
Folders are cross-referenced to the keynote essay so that simultaneous readings of text, plans, photographs and drawings can be made. The format allows the full-size reproduction of over seventy of Murcutt's densely-notated, hand-rendered drawings and sketches, including concepts as well as built works.
All papers and materials are of the highest archival quality. The folio provides a robust and permanent documentation of the work of this exceptional architect. Because of its expense and exclusivity the title is 'to order' only, and will take up to six weeks. A small number of copies will be signed by the architect.
Stop press. Glenn Murcutt has been announced as winner of the 2009 Gold Medal of the American Institute of Architects.
