Description
In issue 4 Graphic Magazine sets out to explore the idea of the Environment, such as the relationship between Us and What Is Around Us, for example our eco-system, a group of friends, the stars (be it in the astronomical, astrological or even in the cinematographic sense), heat waves, floods, disaster movies, loud neighbours or the end of print.
In this issues essay, Michael Evamy looks at the relationship between visual arts and environmental issues. Why arent graphic-designers and visual artists doing more to help the public understand key environmental issues? What can be done? What should be done?
In the profile section, Lachlan Blackley talks to fashion designer Eley Kishimoto and author Ian Anderson, who was invloved in The Designers Republics long awaited book Brain Aided Design, which is also exclusively previewed here.
In time for the season, there is also the annual T-shirt survey, which looks closer into the phenomenon of t-shirts designed (and often customized) by visual artists. Issue 4 also includes interviews with Yoshi Kawasaki (founder of label 2K/Gingham), Rachel Cattle, Michael Place/Build, M/M, MMKL, Rockwell, Darren Watkins and Experimental Jetset.
Special feature: stamps by designers Aficionado and Alon.
