Description

Illustrating London in all its complexity, this volume examines the extraordinary rang of buildings that has been developed across the whole spectrum of architectural styles, producing diversity and vigour within a strong historical framework. A section on the social and planning history of the metropolis includes essays by Andrew Saint, Robert Cowan, David Mackay and Cedric Price, while 'London as it is' discusses the city following the boom period of the 1980's, typified by Canary Wharf. Looking towards the future, there is a substantial examination of the capital's transporation problems plus other key projects.
