Description
When building or extending a house, using the NBS Domestic Specification can improve quality, save time, reduce uncertainty and help to avoid disputes. A concise, comprehensive and user-friendly tool for writing specifications for use on small domestic projects, this new edition has been updated and redesigned to make it even easier to use.
It is divided into sections, each covering an element of work likely to be encountered on a typical domestic project. Users compile a project specification by selecting those sections required for the project. Each section is divided into two parts: the 'specification' and the 'work schedule'. The specification sets out the standards of construction and workmanship required, and is intended to be used without further editing. The work schedule is completed by ticking boxes and entering information about the particular materials required for the project.
For the first time referring to building standards and regulations in Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as English and Welsh ones, the completed document is immensely useful. It can be used:
- as part of an application for Building Regulations approval or getting prices for the work
- as a permanent record of the work agreed
- as a set of instructions for use on site
- as an aid to agreeing the value of the work done
- as part of a pack of information that describes all the work done
Now in A3 format (folded to A4) for ease of photocopying, NBS Domestic Specification can be used by domestic clients, professional designers and domestic builders, including home owners/occupiers who may or may not have engaged a consultant to oversee the work.
