Description

This intriguing book tells the story of the friendship between the architect German Rodriguez Arias (a co-founder of the radical Barcelona group GATCPAC) and the poet Pablo Neruda, and the houses and furniture the former designed for the latter. They met in Chile, where both men had fled after the defeat of the Spanish Republic in the Civil War, and collaborated extensively in the 1940s and 1950s on a series of houses, well illustrated here with photos and plans, and detailing both exteriors and interiors (particularly furniture). This book is a singular document of a meeting of minds.
