Description
This is the second instalment in Manel Padura's mission to do wonderfully detailed justice to the work of Spain's architects. As with its predecessor (Spain Architects Rehabilitation) every one of the 39 projects presented here is delineated with oodles of images and flurries of plans, the thoroughness putting most other such studies to shame. Names such as Baeza, Abalos&Herreros and Ferrater are all featured. All but two of the projects are in Spain and range from the attractively metallic 'zinc house' in Madrid, and other private residences, to mass housing projects of varying types.
This book is an absolute must for anyone with an interest in Spanish architecture or housing in general - most strongly recommended.

This beautifully presented two volume box set is the 2nd in Manel Padura’s Spain Architects series (the 1st being the very well received Spain Architects: Rehabilitations which focuses on renovations and re-builds). A must for any architecture enthusiast’s collection, the box set is a brilliantly descriptive compilation of 39 housing projects undertaken by a variety of Spanish architects in the last two years, and includes projects in Sweden, Holland and Mexico as well as Spain. The projects covered feature both private and mass housing built in a very diverse range of materials including concrete, ceramic, glass and plastic. Highly detailed descriptions of each project are thoughtfully interspersed with architect’s sketches, plans, elevations and over 200 construction details as well as some stunning, high quality colour photographs. ‘Spain Architects: Housing’, like its forerunner, not only aims to present an exciting foray into the work of well-known architects such as Calatrava, Abalos & Herreros and Baeza but also showcases and highlights ground breaking projects by lesser known architects such as Luca Lancini’s pilot scheme Fujy- Architecture by Nature in Madrid which is particularly superbly illustrated. All of the projects featured are outstanding achievements in architectural design and this set really does them justice. It is a joy to read, whether it be for study or pleasure. Highly Recommended.
