Underground Stations of Leslie Green

David Leboff

Description

Leslie Green is a name unknown to most Londoners, but the legacy of his short life as an architect is visible in the highly distinctive deep-red terra cotta Underground stations he designed in 1905-07, most of which still stand.

This book deals primarily with the stations as they are today, but the contemporary colour photography is supplemented by historical black and white views. The author works for London Underground and has a special interest in heritage stations.

The contents include: The Man and His Buildings; Operational stations with original features largely intact; Disused stations with original faades largely intact; Operational stations with few if any original features in public view; and Cartouche designs.
