About the Checklists and Figures
These web pages and the free editable documents they contain accompany the new edition of the Architect's Job Book (Eighth Edition), providing everything you need to set up project plan for individual architectural projects.
These downloadable documents need only be downloaded once to your hard drive and may then be reused as often as required, subject to the terms of the License Agreement.
The downloadable documents available here include all the Checklists and Figures from the Architect's Job Book (Eighth Edition). Their numbering mirrors that used in the book. Additionally there are other figures available for download here which are not reproduced in the book.
Although they don't constitute an office quality management system in themselves, these downloadable documents are nonetheless compatible with one.
The downloadable documents may be completed electronically or printed out and completed manually to suit your preferred method of working.
NOTE: The downloadable documents here are designed to be used in conjunction with the Architect's Job Book (Eighth Edition).
The book includes important guidance and watchpoints which, if ignored, might result in misunderstanding and subsequent difficulties.
You are strongly advised to refer to this guidance before using these downloadable documents.
The Checklists
The Checklists all have the same format and identical sub-headings, recognising the iterative nature of design and keeping them simple, consistent and clear.
There are eleven generic checklists, one for each work stage in line with the RIBA's Outline Plan of Work 2007. They are founded in the Standard Architect's Appointment from the RIBA's suite of appointment documents.
The Checklists may be edited electronically, allowing them to form the basis of a project plan. For each action in the Checklists it is possible to record the date on which the action was undertaken or completed, and notes on the activity, if relevant.
NOTE: The Checklists are not comprehensive and should be adapted to the specific needs of a particular practice and, indeed, a particular contract and/or project. It is recommended that they are reassessed at the start of every new project and every new work stage, and amended as needed.
The Figures
The Figures comprise a wide variety of standard letters, forms, sample agendas and so on, and are intended to be used as template documents. They may all be edited to suit your specific needs.
